Claudeforce is the partnership between Salesforce and Anthropic that puts your company's Salesforce data to work inside Claude, governed by the same permissions and business rules your company already runs on. If you searched for Claudeforce and found plenty of headlines and very few explanations, this is the plain version: what it is, how it works underneath and what it changes for a team that works with customers.
Joaquín País, CEO of ShowerThinking, also explains it on video:
What is Claudeforce?
Claudeforce connects Claude, Anthropic's AI model, to Salesforce's data, workflows, business logic and governance. The easiest way to understand it is as a connection that runs in two directions at once:
Claude inside Salesforce
In the first direction, Claude moves into Salesforce as one of the models that do the thinking behind Agentforce, the platform where Salesforce builds its AI agents. When an agent has to decide what to do next with a customer, a case or a request, Claude can be the one reasoning.
What matters is where it runs. Claude is served through Amazon Bedrock inside what Salesforce calls its Trust Boundary, so the data your agents work with stays inside Salesforce's security perimeter instead of travelling to an outside API.
Salesforce inside Claude
The second direction is the one most people mean when they talk about Claudeforce. It is called Salesforce in Claude: a plugin for Claude with prebuilt skills for people who work with customers, such as preparing a meeting or reviewing an account.
When someone on the team connects it, Claude reads their context across Salesforce, Slack and any other connector they use, and builds them a dashboard around their own accounts. From there they can ask which customers need attention this week, prepare tomorrow's visit or log what came out of it. Claude works with live customer data, not with a report someone exported last Friday.
How Claudeforce works: Headless 360 and MCP
Underneath sits Headless 360, Salesforce's way of exposing its platform (data, workflows, business logic and permissions) through MCP, the Model Context Protocol that lets AI models talk to business systems in a governed way.
- You connect it once. An admin connects Salesforce in Claude for the whole organisation, and everyone on the team has access from day one.
- There is no new permissions model. Claude only sees what each user is already allowed to see in Salesforce. If someone cannot open an account in Salesforce, Claude cannot open it for them either.
- Your automation keeps running. Flows, validation rules and triggers fire on every change Claude makes.
Claudeforce and AIforce
Claudeforce is part of a bigger idea Salesforce calls AIforce, the live interface for Salesforce: your Salesforce data and logic should be available wherever people already work, inside Claude, inside Slack or inside Salesforce itself, instead of making everyone go back to the CRM to get anything done.
Claudeforce is the Claude piece, alongside Slackforce and Agentforce Coworker. Sales teams came first, and the same approach is meant to reach service, marketing and the rest of the platform. We cover it in more depth in What is Salesforce AIforce?, and the layer that connects AI to a company's data and rules in the Enterprise AI Harness.
What changes in a real process: preparing a customer visit
Without Claudeforce, someone opens the account record, the notes from the last visit, the open cases and the email threads, and pieces it all together ten minutes before walking in.
With Salesforce in Claude, they ask Claude to prepare the visit and get a briefing built from live data across Salesforce, Slack and email. Afterwards they log the outcome just by talking to Claude, and the follow-up email comes out drafted from the same context. The time goes into the conversation with the customer, not into collecting information.
Before you switch Claudeforce on
- Audit your permissions. Claude will respect them exactly as they are, including the ones nobody has reviewed in years. A wrong permission means Claude sees too much, or misses what it needs.
- Review your automation. Flows, validation rules and triggers fire on every change Claude makes, for better and for worse. What works keeps working; what was broken shows up too.
